Gangtok is a city, municipality, the capital and the largest populated place of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is also the headquarters of the Gangtok District. Gangtok is in the eastern Himalayan range, at an elevation of 1,650 m (5,410 ft). The city’s population of 100,000 are from different ethnicities of Sikkimese people such as Indian Gorkhas, Bhutia and Lepchas. Within the higher peaks of the Himalayas and with a year-round mild temperate climate, Gangtok is at the centre of Sikkim’s tourism industry.
Gangtok rose to prominence as a popular Buddhist pilgrimage site after the construction of the Enchey Monastery in 1840. In 1894, the ruling Sikkimese Chogyal, Thutob Namgyal, transferred the capital to Gangtok. In the early 20th century, Gangtok became a major stopover on the trade route between Lhasa in Tibet and cities such as Kolkata (then Calcutta) in British India. After India won its independence from the British Empire in 1947, Sikkim chose to remain an independent monarchy, with Gangtok as its capital. After Sikkim’s merger with India in 1975, Gangtok continued as the state capital.

After a sumptuous breakfast visit Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft.) & Baba Mandir (13,200 ft.) which is 55 kms one way from Gangtok city. Spend overnight at hotel in Gangtok. (If due to landslide or bad road condition Tsomgo Lake is closed then alternate sightseeing will be provided). In the Morning around 09:30 am (Depends on Permit timing from Tourism office), Start for Lachung (North Sikkim). On the way visit Butterfly Waterfall or Seven Sisters Waterfalls (Anyone of them depends on which route is open to proceed), Lunch on the way at Zero point Or Mangan City at Guest own cost. Halt at Naga Falls, Singhik Viewpoint (The Stunning View Of Mt.Kanchanjungha Range). Halt at Chungthang valley as a tea break then head towards Lachung. After breakfast at around 8:30 am start for the local sightseeing of Pelling. Visit Khecheopalri Lake, Kanchenjunga Waterfall, Rimbi Water Falls and Darap Village (Sikkim's Oldest Village). Later Visit Rabdentse Ruins, Pemayangtse Monastery (The 2nd oldest monastery of Sikkim) & Helipad Viewpoint. Evening Back to Hotel. Overnight Stay at Pelling. Today get ready early morning by 4 a.m to witness the spectacular sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzongha (28,208 ft. ,World’s 3rd highest peak ) at Tiger Hill. Its a destination by itself offering not just great views during sunrise; its a place where you can soak yourself with Himalayan serenity anytime during the day. Thrill yourself by visiting World famous Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop on your way back. Batasia Loop is fascinating to watch the toy train with its way round the loop. The War Memorial constructed in the memory of brave sons of Darjeeling who died in different wars since 1947, is worth a visit. A glorious view of snowy peak and town can be seen from this place. Today after you are done with your breakfast , start for a full day excursion trip to Mirik Lake (4,900 ft.) via Indo-Nepal Border (Extra vehicle charges will be applicable for Nepal Border to Pasupati Market). Mirik is famous for its man-made Sumendu Lake, Cardamom plantations and Tea Estates. A rich forest with thousands of Cryptomaria-Japanica trees clothe the slopes, zig-zag footwalk takes you along the lake - a sleek foot bridge connects the garden on the east with the woods on the west. Alone or in company, you are sure to enjoy a boat-ride in the lake. (One can do Boating on direct payment basis in lake). In the evening return to your hotel in Darjeeling.
